BROWN STAINS ON TEETH: How are they usually formed. And what is the solution for getting rid of them?

OK. This is my third time in asking. So I've figured out that my brown stains on my teeth are not 'dental fluorosis'; NEITHER do I partake of tobacco, tea, coffee or red wine. So it's not that! A Dentist on Yahoo Answers replied that I should go back to the dentist and give him more money to fix the problem. Well, I could. But THEN - he also went on to say that after coming home, I should figure out what I'm doing wrong. Mmm - that's why my friends on the Internet are there for. The problem occured after I had returned from the dentist to have my teeth cleaned. Before that I was using a battery operated toothbrush that obviously wasn't doing the trick. So two questions: a) how do I get my teeth back to normal FROM HOME any websites would help (but what I really need is someone who has done it for themselves and b) what do I look for in an electric/or battery powered brush?

BROWN STAINS ON TEETH: How are they usually formed. And what is the solution for getting rid of them?
Coca cola, soda, chocolate, tea, coffee cause brown spots. Just go to a dentist and he'll get rid of them or use bleach.
Reply:Eating crap or smoking so brush like mad.
Reply:There are whitening strips you can use. If you drink cola, it will cause your teeth to stain, also.
Reply:u need a brush that has a battery that makes the little brush spikes spin automaticly
Reply:your friends on the internet are not there to solve your problems, they are not dentists, follow your dentists advice.

Sensitive Teeth?

I had my teeth cleaned and whitened, and my teeth are so sensitive, they hurt bad! Anyone know what can help, I tried floride and ambasol, oragel, I just dont know what else I can try.. any suggestion?

Sensitive Teeth?
this is a fairly common symptom after whitning teeth.use some sensitive toothpaste..brush with it and apply along the teeth with finger and just let it sit there for a while..
Reply:Go back to the dentist that treated you and tell them.
Reply:try warm water with salt it will help in case you have swollen gums
Reply:Whitening teeth can cause moderate to extreme sensitivity. That's just normal because of the properties in whitening solutions. Even over the counter whitening is still too harsh for me. This should wear off soon for you. If you have sensitive teeth, I would not use any type of whitening solution unless it's for sensitive teeth. The only toothpast I can use now is for sensitive teeth. All others I can't tolerate.

I Cant afford to get my teeth fixed..... I live in North Texas ! Someone give me advice.?

I have been dodging dental work with the benefit of having insurance because it still cost too much. For atleast 5 years now I have been going to dentist to have my teeth cleaned only to be told that I need to get this fixed or that fixed..... Ive had to make payments for each procedure - each time I could only come back when my balance was paid... Only to be told the same thing.... Come back and I have to fix this. Ive only had my teeth cleaned 2 times out of 5 years and I had to make a sceen to get it done. Now Im faced with probably 3 to 4 crowns and they want to charge me $700-$800 per tooth with insurance. I cant afford it - I can barely make a car note. I have 3 children. Im about to have a nervous break down. Someone please give me some advice. I live in North Texas.

I have a discounted dental plan that should help with the costs. Check it out at http://www.everyonebenefits.com/LMota
Reply:take care of your teeth more
Reply:I know how costly and hard is it in U S A to get medical help.

look for a good college of DENTISTRY in your area............they teach new students on you but always professors supervise.

change your present dentist.they are rude

the other thing you can do is talk to a good dentist ahead of getting services about paymwnt plan so you can pay them a certain amount each month.

do not shatter your nerves on this matter..there is always a way.

talk to your friends, I am sure someone will give you a good openion.

we all go through hard times but always remember to face it with confidence.....it is not worth to shatter your nerves.

good luck
Reply:check with your local hospital to see if they can refer you to a dental school in the area - sometimes the dental school will perform procedures for little or no cost - your work would of course be done by someone who is not a licensed dentist but would be completely overseen by a dentist - with vitually no risk.

good luck - i am in the same situaltion!!

Teeth whitening?

i was wondering, does rinsing your mouth with hydrogen peroxide make your teeth whiter over time? my cousin said that it worked for her. she also said that she got the idea from her friend who was in the army and she said that they used it to keep their teeth clean.

Teeth whitening?
Yes, over time. But do not use it full strength, since it is damaging to the gums. It does, however take a VERY long time, and you may find that whitening strips or the process of lazers at your dentist (zoom) will do the trick faster
Reply:flavored toothpaste makes you want to brush so in turn gets you whiter teeth but don't brush anymore than 2 min. Report It

Reply:Total crap...u wil inturn spoil ur teeth...jus use a good toothpaste
Reply:crest white strips work great.i buy mine on Ebay-cheaper!
Reply:I always thought it was bad to ingest hydrogen peroxide. If they're fine and it works you might as well go ahead. I personally like the Rembrandt whitening strips though!
Reply:That is kind of gross.........but I know that baking soda works every now and than put some on your toothbrush ,but not all the time it will take the enamel off.
Reply:crest white strips work good but if you dont want to spend alot of money try listerine whiting use it before you brush everytime and it takes a little longer than whitestripes but it works
Reply:Yep it works.
Reply:Strange enough, Ultrabright tooth paste( the cheap stuff) really works. I use colgate white night brush on stuff too.

Baking soda works but tastes bad.

Some tooth pasted have peroxide in them like mentadent, but I didn't see any results from it.
Reply:give it a shot
Reply:yeah it works cus i have some rebrandt whiteing stuff and the mouth wash u use first is basiclly that only a little diluted with water but it should whiten ur teeth but make sure to brush too lol :)

Can you ever brush you're teeth TOO MUCH? (read details)?

Okay, so since I'm soon getting braces, for some reason I've had this weird obsession to brush my teeth like every two hours (basically right after I eat ANYTHING)!! I don't have the braces yet, but I'm getting some on Tuesday I believe, and I got spacers. For some reason I've just really have been brushing my teeth VERY VERY often. Is it ever possible to "over brush?" Like maybe if you brush so often that your enamel starts to wear away? It's kind of a weird idea but things pop into my head, so I'm just wondering. I know brushing your teeth after almost every meal helps break down plaque and keep your teeth clean, but to me it seems obsessive, and with my idea, I'm wondering. Please, is it ever possible to brush your teeth TOO MUCH?

Can you ever brush you're teeth TOO MUCH? (read details)?
Brushing right after you eat anything is a good idea and is not too much. As long as you brush correctly, you are brushing the ends of enamel rods and they are very resistant to wearing. If you are brushing incorrectly, brushing across the front surfaces instead of up and down, you can wear grooves in the cementum just below the crown or you can cut enamel rods and wear the enamel away.
Reply:Thanks :) Report It

Reply:Doing anything too much is always a problem. If you are using a soft bristle brush, it probably isn't a BIG problem, but you may have to overcome this obsession. You do have to brush more often with braces cause stuff gets stuck and you don't want to be digging around in there with toothpicks and other stuff.

Try being really gentle when brushing...you'll still get all the "icky" stuff out.
Reply:Just be careful that you are not brushing your teeth too hard or you may wear away your enamel. Also if you drink pop or orange juice or have any kind of citrus fruit, do not brush your teeth right away, wait at least an hour, since the acids soften your enamel brushing would cause the enamel to wear away more easily.

Is anyone else obcessed with teeth?

I am obcessed with teeth. It's the first thing I notice. I have had to stopped eating with some of our friends because I don't like the way their teeth are cared for. Also, my husband doesn't care for his teeth and I find myself constantly looking in his mouth. I have had to beg him to get his teeth cleaned. It hurts his feelings, but I cannot help myself. His eat are not really even bad. They are just not perfect! I find myself sickened by people with stained and broken teeth. Is anyone else like this?

Is anyone else obcessed with teeth?
I have to admit, I am a bit guilty of this myself. But I often try to separate myself from my job as often as I can. I make a conscious effort not to stare at peoples teeth when I am not at work. I could drive myself nuts walking around thinking of all the different things that I could do to fix up people's smiles! The important thing is not to judge people by their teeth, Dr. Sam hit upon this, not every one has or has had access to good care. Trying to fix years of neglect often can get quite expensive and not everyone can afford to do it. Also, many people are self-conscious of their teeth, especially if they know that they have problems already. Try and take it easy on them and try to make them feel good about themselves!
Reply:no! i hate mine....i wish my parents took me more to the dentist, maybe my teeth would be perfect now......i cant afford to get them fixed!
Reply:I think I'm like that sometime....teeth are the first thing I notice...the reason I dated people in the past is the first thing I noticed was their teeth...if they couldn't take care of their grilz then ewwww! I used to work for a dentist and have seen some pretty nasty stuff....I guess denistry wouldn't be your kind of profession to go into! You would be grossed out all the time!
Reply:Only my own.
Reply:Yes I am... I am always told I have "beautiful" teeth... every time I go to the dentist. Someone asked me if they were real! (they are)
Reply:No,Im not.
Reply:Thats the first thing i look for in a guy!!!lol I i really like a guy with nice teeth
Reply:Well, sort of, but that's my job....... I can't help but notice. I try not to base my entire judgement of a person on this, though. We don't all have the same opportunities.
