Crowded and protruding teeth. I NEED HELP!?

i have mild crowding and overlapping (wait, is that redundant?) in both my upper and lower teeth. and one of my front teeth is protruding and covering part the little incisor beside it. i also have a slight overbite. overall, my teeth don't look so bad but those problems make it hard to keep my teeth clean.

i've heard about invisalign but i don't really understand what it is and how it works. also, can braces fix my teeth? what treatment would be best for me?

thanks.

Crowded and protruding teeth. I NEED HELP!?
Invisalign is a trademark for plastic appliances which fit over the biting edges of teeth and move them. As the teeth move you will have to insert different appliances. In my opinion, this is only for minor tooth problems while the majority of cases need to be rectified with braces. You need to be evaluated by an Orthodontist to find out what treatment is best for you.
Reply:It sounds like our teeth are kind of in the same condition, mine are crowded as well. Yes, braces can align your teeth (I got mine put it about a month ago). I'm not sure what invasalign is but from what the other guy posted I'm guessing that braces are a better option.
Reply:for a second their i thought u were some dental kinda person cos of ur terminology. but i guess people know what incisors and overbite are....don't they?

anyway since u are worried about ur teeth i hope this helps.

1. Get a check up with ur local dentist or community health centre depending on u. and ask for their recommendation.

2. braces should be able to straighten ur teeth.

but keep in mind. that since ur teeth are overcrowded does ur mouth have space accommodate them if they are straighten? if not then its most likely that u will have a tooth or so taken out.

3. when trying to straighten ur teeth things come into consideration such as ur occlusion or other words ur bite. whether or not ur upper and lower jaw bite together properly after the process. which ur dental health professional should take care of anyway.

4. umm not sure about this but in some cases such as my one...my lower jaw may be reduced cos its too big...but i won't go into that.

I wanted to get braces too at one stage but apparently my teeth weren't exactly crooked or anything....just tiny gaps here and there that gave the look. and instead my dentist just gave me an aesthetic material to build up my tooth so its looks a lil bigger and reduce the gaps. ppl think i have braces though. hope this helps ^^
Reply:An good orthodontic consult would really help you in your case. Don't be afraid to ask them questions, ask for options, and know their treatment plan for you.

until then, i suggest you floss every after you brush your teeth after meals to prevent food particles from getting stuck in between your teeth and prevent caries.
Reply:No one on Yahoo! Answers can really tell you what treatment is best for you without seeing your teeth, or you seeing an orthodontist. Braces should be able to fix your teeth as well as invisilign, and some people just have retainers that fix their bite.

I hope that you will go see an orthodontist to answer your questions, and get help so that you feel good about your smile and can take care of your teeth.
Reply:Consult an orthodontist. It shouldn't cost anything for the initial visit and opinion. If they are experienced, they can take one look in your mouth and assess what general treatments might work and give you rough estimates of the cost and time involved.

You have nothing to lose getting this information. Even if you can't act on it now, you will know your options.
