Is it true that cleaning the tongue is more important than brushing teeth at night?

What is the best method to clean the tongue?

Is it true that cleaning the tongue is more important than brushing teeth at night?
Yes and no...

Most people don't brush the right way so tongue cleaning is REALLY important for them...

They sell a Tongue Cleaner next to the tooth brushes at the grocery store... It looks like a loop on a stick that you drag across the tongue...

If you don't have one of those and old credit card works just as well... (As long as you wash it first.)

My breath is MUCH better since I started using my Tongue Cleaner without having to use as much mouthwash...

I won't live without it!
Reply:You might try a tongue scraper.
Reply:Wrong section but.....

Yeah, it gets rid of morning breath easier then you think, and it massages your toungue.
Reply:yes alot of germs are there. Brush it with your tooth brush
Reply:You really need to do both, but there are many many bacteria on the tongue and that is where bad breath comes from, so cleaning the tongue will cut down on bad breath and harmful bacteria.
Reply:not technically MORE imortant, but it helps eliminate bad breath. Make sure to get the roof of you mouth, also.

just get as far back as you can and try not to gag.
Reply:it's not more important, but it's good because it gets rid of all the bacteria. try getting one of the toothbrushes with a tongue cleaner on the back of the head.
Reply:yes becuase thats where bacteria gathers. why do yo think breath stinks.
Reply:Any dentist will tell you, that it is MOST important to floss. If you're having serious halitosis issues then buy a tongue scraper in addition to brushing teeth, and gums--and replace your toothbrush often.
Reply:yeah i've heard that... umm mouth wash i guess ore a toungue scaper. =]
Reply:Yes. Toothpaste and brush.
Reply:you should really do both at night its healthy for your mouth adn gums
Reply:yes. toungue cleaner.
Reply:Nooo! Brushing your teeth is a lot more important. You don't want cavity's, do you? %26gt;:O

[Besides that, brushing your tongue is also important, it helps fight germs that are siting on your tongue.]

But still make sure you brush your teeth...=)
Reply:That's definitely not true. You need to floss and brush because it help keep your gums healthy and gets bacteria out that will rot your teeth. Cleaning the tongue helps with bad breath and you can do it using your toothbrush, just scrub your tongue with the brush and use some tooth paste...or you can buy a tongue scraper.
Reply:Both , brushing teeth and cleaning your tongue are equally important..because both eliminate bad breath. :)

I use my tooth-brush and and go as far back with it in my mouth to the back of my throat as i can, and scrape my tongue with my tooth brush that way..
Reply:Use your toothbrush after cleaning your teeth, but while it still has foam on it. Cleans that gunk off nicely.

There is more bad breath from the tongue than from the teeth. Teetha re smooth, but the tongue is actually rough, and traps more food debris.
Reply:Both are equally imperative.
Reply:It's not more important.. it's just the same. You need to do both to have pretty teeth and good smelling breath. I reccomend buying a tounge scraper and afterwards use the blue mint mouth wash. (I found that it works the best)

Also, don't chew too much gum. It gives you bad breath because all the saliva is sitting around in your mouth, breath mints are better.
Reply:no! Brush it, scrape it, use listerine in small amounts!
Reply:It depends where your tongue has been!!!!

wdw
Reply:Rather than brushing with a toothbrush that can make you sore use a mouth wash. Such as: Colgate or something stronger like Corsodyl.

But cleaning your tongue and brushing your teeth are equally important.

If you do use a mouth wash. Use it about 5 minutes after brushing your teeth.
Reply:No, both is required. Get a tounge scraper or use your toothbrush.
