Why do ppl say their mouth is sore after getting their teeth cleaned after the dentist if ot doesnt hurt?

Why do ppl say their mouth is sore after getting their teeth cleaned after the dentist if ot doesnt hurt?
because they scrape in between your teeth to get out the plaque and they use that little ice pick looking thing and it makes your gums sore, swollen and red. But it isn't anything that you can't bear and it takes about 3 days and its all better. Its mostly sore when you brush, otherwise its okay.

Just think about how nice and clean your teeth and mouth will be and its worth it! :)
Reply:mouth must be open for like an hour to get it done
Reply:Some people have a sore mouth after they have their teeth cleaned because they may have had alot of calculus on their teeth and the gums will be more tender than someone who has healthy gums and has less calculus. If there is a large amount of calculus to be removed the gums may have receded slightly and therefore exposing the root surface of the tooth which is more sensitive than enamel.
Reply:depends on the condition of the teeth being worked on

the worse the condition, the more scraping needs to be done

most people say their gums are slightly sore and minor bleeding after getting their teeth cleaned

you are asking because................... you've NEVER had your teeth cleaned?
Reply:There's some discomfort, but I wouldn't say it actually hurts. Your mouth will be open for quite some time so your jaw may be a tad achey afterward. If you don't have your teeth cleaned on a regular basis and they have to do extensive cleaning below the gum line, that may be tender for awhile.

Have your teeth cleaned every six months and you'll have less discomfort and healthier teeth and gums.
