ok i have this orthodontist appoint..and the next day, teeth cleaning at my regular dentist. do i still have to get them cleaned...or do i wait til they get off...

You will get your teeth cleaned at the dentist even with braces on. They blast %26quot;sand%26quot; on your teeth to polish away stains, and ofcourse floss and what else they would normally do.
Reply:Yes you can and should have your teeth cleaned even with braces on. We (dentist or hygienist) can still get your teeth really clean even with all of the bands and brackets, and monitor for things like cavities, gingivitis etc. Waiting until you get your braces off to have your teeth cleaned would be a huge mistake. As the other poster said we use what we call a prophy jet to clean people that have braces on their teeth. It is like a sand blaster, but for your teeth. The prophy jet uses a sodium mixture to basically blast off the plaque, food debris and stain that accumulates on the teeth. We even use the prophy jet on people without braces. However it works great for people with ortho. You will be doing the right thing if you see your orthodontist and then your dentist for your cleaning.
