I had my teeth cleaned today for the first time in like 15 years............................ it supposed?
yes it is normal for the cleaning to hurt especially if it has been 15 years and he does a deep clean OUCH! but it is worth it.
Reply:yes, that%26#039;s why most people don%26#039;t like going to the dentist, it isn%26#039;t exactly comfortable.

But you gotta do what you gotta do. I%26#039;ll take a day of discomfort every now and then for healthy teeth.
Reply:Yeah, it is normal to bleed and experience pain, especially if you didn%26#039;t go for 15 years.
Reply:Yes that%26#039;s normal.Its also normal for the gums to bleed a little.They probably did a deep cleaning to get any plaque out from in between teeth and from the gum lines.Take Alleve which is naproxen that has anti inflammatory abilities and be easy on eating hard things for the day and by tomorrow you should be fine.
Reply:congratulations on having teeth!
Reply:Uh, ya, 15 years of buildup. Imagine if you didn%26#039;t shower or wash your hands for 15 years.
Reply:I went to the dentist yesterday and had my teeth cleaned too (first time in about 6 years), there was a small amount of bleeding, some discomfort and very weird feeling now when I rub my tounge over my teeth!
Reply:Yes, that%26#039;s normal. It means they did a good job. It%26#039;ll be ok in a day or so. Go regularly, every 6 months and maybe it won%26#039;t be so bad next time. You probably had a lot of plaque build up.
Reply:The best cleaning Ive experienced was when the hygenist had the lightest touch! Some hygenists think they are mining for gold and dig and dig and dig! After the 1st experience and going home with very swollen/painful and bleeding gums, I made it a point to tell the hygenist the next time that she was too rough. After all, the only way they can know that they are causing you pain is if you are wincing and/or saying %26quot;OWCH!!!%26quot;

Also, my gums tend to get a little tender from flossing. Mostly cause I dont do it very regularly. So maybe that is the reason for your pain...

DONT quit going to the dentist, please! It may suck, but this set of teeth was FREE!!
Reply:Considering that you haven%26#039;t had your teeth professionally cleaned in 15 years. Yes....it will hurt at first.

Just properly floss and brush your teeth everyday and visit your professional every six months. I guarantee that you wouldn%26#039;t feel like you did today.

Feel better!
Reply:15 years yea it is supose 2 hurt a lil.. but dont worry u wil get use 2 it! that is if u go like ur supose 2!
Reply:A regular cleaning shouldnt hurt at all but a deep cleaning is a different story. A deep cleaning is probably what they did for you considering its been so long. In a deep cleaning they really get in there and go to town to get plaque out from under the edges of your gums which can be painful. I had a deep cleaning a few weeks ago and was sore for 2-3 days. Try some advil or tylenol if you feel you need it.
Reply:Yeah its called 15 yrs of hard tarter. Ouch!
