Why does cleaning my teeth give me such a strong urge to urinate?

Every single time! It%26#039;s always puzzled me!

Why does cleaning my teeth give me such a strong urge to urinate?
no idea its all in the mind what else could it be?
Reply:i think its the running water.. the sound of it maybe.

and the close proximity to the toilet.

i also have a strong urge to pee whenever i take a shower. even if i pee before showering i still pee in the shower. weird!

:D
Reply:It could just be because you associate cleaning your teeth with urinating.

I have a set bedtime routine, first I brush my teeth, then I wash my face, then I urinate. I always start to feel like I need to urinate while I am brushing my teeth. My body has just got used to this routine, and when I start brushing my teeth, it realises that its nearly time to go to the toilet!
Reply:hehe that%26#039;s because your skin feels cold running water and that is like a go-ahead signal for the brain to urinate! it happens to pretty much everyone. I%26#039;ve come to the point that before showering, even the knowledge that i%26#039;m gonna shower makes me want to pee!! lool

so don%26#039;t worry its normal :)
Reply:I%26#039;m afraid i have no idea as to why this is happening. The only conclusion that i can come to is that the sound of the running water triggers some reaction in your brain and then you need to pee !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Like all the other answers, the first conclusion would be running water, but i would say it is a habit you have formed without realising until now?
Reply:Is it because the tap is running, whilst in hospital if you cant go they run the tap to get you started.
Reply:nerve damage?
