I went to the dentist today for a cleaning..and the hygenist cleaned my teeth with that sharp toothpick like o
The toothpick like thing sounds like an explorer, and I had one dentist who cleaned my teeth that way and it made me so afraid of teeth cleanings. She just scratched away at them. None of my other dentists have used an explorer to clean my teeth, thank goodness. However, the device they use to clean right under your gums is kind of unpleasant, but really worked.
As far as bleeding, if she was really rough then your gums would bleed. But do they bleed when you brush or floss? If they do then that%26#039;s a problem.

Reply:noo its fine. they do that all the time to everyone, its perfectly normal. and it should just hurt a little but thats bc they dig into the very bottom of the teeth into the gums to clean out all the bacteria and plaque..its fine

Reply:Either she was too rough, or you have the beginnings or gingivitis. You should go back and ask your dentist about it, either way.
Reply:No, unless they said something to you about your gums receding. She probably just go too aggressive in her cleaning, I hate that. If they are sore (like mine get when that happens) just take some advil or tylenol to help take the edge off. Once, my mouth hurt so bad after a cleaning, I couldn%26#039;t eat that day and could barely eat the next day. My mouth hurt for two days! But she and the dentist both said that my teeth and gums were in great shape!
