Is there a way of cleaning my ferret's teeth?

I just took my pet ferret to the vet for his yearly shots and physical check up, the vet said that he had quite a bit of tar on his teeth and that it could turn into gingivitis, I want to avoid that problem, could anyone give me an answer please? Thank you in advance your info is going to be greatly apreciate it.

Is there a way of cleaning my ferret%26#039;s teeth?
There are ferret %26quot;tooth paste%26quot; and %26quot;tooth brushes%26quot; out in pet stores and on the internet. They won%26#039;t like it, and you%26#039;ll probably have to scruff them to get them to stay still. Even though ferrets eat %26quot;hard%26quot; kibble, they can still get tartar on their teeth, which can lead to gingivitis and teeth problems. So yes, get a paste and toothbrush for ferrets - some people use a rubber finger tip that has little nubs on it to gently scrape off the tartar. Dooks!
Reply:Could try those dog biscuits that claim to clean teeth, anything good for a dog is fine for a ferret, until a few years ago when ferrets became popular it was common to feed them dog food.
Reply:They have ferret toothpaste. Marshall Farms makes some. Look in Petco/Petsmart for it. I think its somewhere around $10-15. You could probably use one of those finger type brushes they have for cats/dogs to clean his teeth with. Good luck trying to clean them!
Reply:if you brush your ferrets teeth make sure you videotape the experience, if you ad flossing to the experience I%26#039;m sure you would win one of those funniest video contests.
Reply:Your vet can do a cleaning to remove the tartar that%26#039;s already present. Afterward you might try a dental gel, such as this.... http://www.ferretdepot.com/Merchant2/mer...
