Whats a deep cleaning? for teeth?

And how can you prevent gum diease and deep cleaning?

Whats a deep cleaning? for teeth?
a deep cleaning is also called scaling your teeth the dentist actually cleans or scrapes your teeth below the gum line for the rest of your answer consult your dentist
Reply:A deep cleaning removes all of the hard deposits at the very bottom of the sulcus (or pockets). This is the area that is not attached to the tooth, between the tooth and the gum tissue. It is very difficult for a toothbrush to get to the bottom of a deep pocket, resulting in a large number of disease causing bacteria, as well as the formation of calculus/tarter (hard deposits).

The hard deposits have a rough surface, which is a great place for bacteria to attach to. These deposits also bring the bacteria closer to the gum tissue. This makes it easier for the bacteria to invade your gum tissue (causing gingivitis) and then they start to attack your bone (causing periodontitis or %26quot;gum disease%26quot;) and your teeth will become mobile and eventually fall out. This is why it is important to have the hard deposits removed from your teeth in those deep pockets.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that your body sends an immune response, through the blood, to fight off the bacteria (the increase in the blood volume to get enough immune cells to the area of invasion is why your gums tissue becomes swollen and bleeds when you have gingivitis). As a result, the immune cells, which are there to kill the bacteria, also produce cytokines, prostaglandins and MMPs which actually help the bacteria destroy the bone and connective tissue! Prostaglandins also stimulate early labor, leading to low birth weight babies in pregnant women!
Reply:A deep cleaning is a procedure to remove tartar or stain buildup on your teeth, this can be done above or below the gum line to remove any buildup on teeth.
Reply:Nicole, your response is what we call a%26quot;shotgun%26quot; answer. Throw all you know at it and hope something will stick.
Reply:PREVENT GUM DISEASE WITH PROPER BRUSHING/FLOSSING YOU WILL PEREVENT THE FORMATION OF HARD TARTAR AND THE CAUSE OF GUM DISEASE.
Reply:The dentist uses a drill to clean under your gum line. I had it done and it improved my dental health.
Reply:You always have very interesting questions. So I checked it out and this is what I found at:
