Had my teeth cleaned last Wednesday...having a problem with one tooth?

This is kinda hard to explain.

I had my teeth cleaned last Wednesday. I was told that I have one cavity and I am going to have it filled this Wednesday.

The thing is I never had any pain with the tooth with the cavity prior to the cleaning. Now I have pain...not so much in the tooth but above it. Maybe the root because the pain radiates straight up to the point it I feel it up to the side of my nose. There is some swelling.

Any ideas what could be going on?

Also maybe some ideas on what could help with the paid. Taking Tylenol isnt cutting it.

It could be an abcess, especially if it%26#039;s swollen and as painful as you say it is. You need to call the dentist tomorrow because you may need an antibiotic.
Reply:Does it hurt when you hit it with your finger?? Is it hot sens.? If yes call your d.d.s tonight.. take advil not tylenol want to take 600-800 mg every 6 hours. IF YOU CAN TAKE IT. if there is a pimple in your mouth pop it with a needle and do warm salt water rinses. Was your cavity large?? very hard to tell you without looking ant an

x-ray OR are you nerves and thinking about it. because you never had a cavity?? I have been doing this for 8 years crda
Reply:Regular dental appointments (like cleanings) have a way of bringing to the surface problems that have been in the making for a while. I had the same thing happen last summer, and ended up having to get a tooth pulled :( The swelling may be an abscess beginning to form, so you need to get to the dentist soon. As for the pain, take Aleve, it really helps! Good luck!
Reply:When you get your teeth cleaned, grind your teeth, chip a tooth, it causes trauma to the teeth. The cleaning may have been the final straw of trauma to the tooth. Especially if it is a deep cavity. you should go to the dentist asap. The other possibility is that some of the tarter and other particles from your cleaning may have become caught in your gum line causing inflammation. Floss and brush your teeth often. Sometimes the pain goes away.

Try orejel for the pain. They make tooth sensitizers also for the pain. I just had my teeth cleaned. Sometimes a tooth dies. As its dieing you%26#039;ll have throbbing and agonizing pain. Since this is the tooth with the cavity, they may decide on a root canal. This removes the root which causes the pain and still saves your tooth.
